Response function of coarsening systems

چکیده
The response function of domain growth processes, and in particular the violation of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, are studied both analytically and numerically. In the asymptotic limit of large times, the fluctuation-dissipation ratio X, which quantifies this violation, tends to one if C > m and to zero if C < m, corresponding to the fast (“bulk”) and slow (“domain-wall”) responses, respectively. In this paper, we focus on the pre-asymptotic behavior of the domain-wall response. This response is shown to scale with the typical domain length L(t) as 1/L(t) for dimension d > 2, and as ln(L(t))/L(t) for d = 2. Numerical results confirming this analysis are presented. متن کاملScaling Behavior of Response Functions in the Coarsening Dynamics of Disordered Ferromagnets
We study coarsening dynamics in the ferromagnetic random bond Ising model in d = 1, 2. We focus on the validity of super-universality and the scaling properties of the response functions. In the d = 1 case, we obtain a complete understanding of the evolution, from preasymptotic to asymptotic behavior. The corresponding response function shows a clear violation of super-universality. Further, ou...

The importance of the equipment and secondary systems in seismic design and performance evaluation is well recognized and has been the subject of many studies. In all of these studies, earthquake is considered as a single component, and in most of them the primary system is considered as shear building. Most attention has been concentrated on the response of secondary system and its response sp...

Diffusion-controlled coarsening (Ostwald ripening) of precipitated Solutions is studied by numerical Simulation. An algorithm is devised which exploits the screening of solute concentration fields, thereby removing the restriction to small Systems of previous work. Simulation of the coarsening of 5000 droplets at 10% volume fraction reveals long-ranged dynamical correlations which broaden the d...
متن کاملTwo- and three-dimensional equilibrium morphology of a misfitting particle and the Gibbs–Thomson effect
The equilibrium shapes of misfitting precipitates in elastically anisotropic systems are obtained in both two and three dimensions, and the corresponding Gibbs–Thomson equation is derived as a function of the characteristic ratio between elastic and interfacial energies, L 0. The effect of elastic inhomogeneity is investigated systematically. For soft or moderately hard particles, the stable eq...
